Education Through Sport
The Ross County Foundation has been delivering a package to young people at Obsdale Primary School since April this year that has focused on education through sport. This initiative has been run in partnership with the Scottish Government and the Scottish Football Association with the aim of making a difference in young people’s lives by giving them the chance to learn and develop as individuals in a fun and engaging environment.
The programme includes a morning club, providing breakfast and games and after school activities for P1-P7 pupils. This initiative has been very well received by the pupils, staff and parents alike. In addition to the morning and after school clubs the Ross County Foundation provided a weeklong football camp for the pupils during their school summer holidays including breakfast and lunch as well as plenty of fun footballing activities. This comes after an exciting excursion to Dunrobin Castle for the group as part of the Education Through Sports Programme giving them the chance to learn about the local historical site.
We look forward to continuing the partnership to provide a different approach to learning and creating a stronger link between the Ross County Foundation and the local community while supporting the SFA’s aim to provide everyone the opportunity to play football regardless of ability or background.
